Something new, Part II

It has been nearly three weeks since I posted about the room changes around here. The saga has continued.

Books at head and feet. What more could a girl want?
First, the boys' new mattresses arrived. As soon as Boy 1's was in place, his old one, and the pop-up trundle frame under it, moved to its new home: Girlie's room. That meant moving bookcases again since a twin is so much bigger than a crib. No matter. The result is so nice.

The boys' beds didn't arrive until more than a week after the mattresses. They were excited to be in real "big boy beds" having never been up from a mattress flat on the floor before.

And suddenly it's a BIG bedroom again!
We'd figured it would take some time for them to get used to the height, maybe a few bouts of midnight confusion or even the sickening THUD of someone falling out. Lo and behold, neither of them missed a beat. So, to their delight, we went ahead and stacked the bunks after only three days. With half the sleeping space out of the way, there's an area left to play in. And here's the part I like--we got to move a few toy storage bins from the dining room, which was the only place they fit before, to under their beds.

We're not quite through yet. A daybed that's currently in the garage will be moving to Girlie's room eventually, and we'll be making some replacements and additions to living room and dining room/kitchen, too. But all that can wait. Things are so much more comfortable around here already.
